Nature trail
Nature experience: footpath (free access)

You will discover remarkable vistas which inspire your imagination, and explore the vegetation, the flora and fauna, both terrestrial and marine … often catching glimpses of rare and protected species.

Any gathering is strictly forbidden. Themed panels (history, geology, botany, zoology...) provide information about the life on the island and the fragility of the coastline.

The length of the nature trail here can vary from one to two or three hours depending on the stamina of the walker.

Along the length of the circuit, there are signposts, stops and thematic information panels, rest areas, two picnic areas, and easily accessible beaches.

At the end of each circuit, there is a signpost indicating the quickest routes back to the landing stage.

It is possible to organise walks for groups with a botanical guide accredited by the Six Fours les Plages Tourist Office, on appointment.

Educational nature trail

Tortured Aleppo pines, flattened by anemomorphosis due to the strong winds, strawberry trees, cacti and succulents, vines surrounded by high hedges of cane trembling in the breeze, flowers, borders and bushes...

Majestic oaks which have progressively been planted in the area to better guard against fires.

The entire periphery of the island is classed a Natura 2000 Site; on a surface area of almost 100 hectares there are more than three hundred species of fruit and flowers, including some protected wild species:  samphire, orchids…

The observant walker might also make out in the sky the avocet, the plover, the grey heron, the cormorant, and the kingfisher: The archipelago of Les Embiez is a refuge for the French League for Bird Protection (LPO) where ornithologists regularly visit to observe birds which are not spotted on land, under the watchful eyes of three kid goats which “keep watch” over the grave of  Paul Ricard, at the summit of the island…
