The sole vineyard on the island, Six-Fours-les-Plages, with some ten hectares of vines growing in full sun, allows holiday makers each year to share in its Grape Harvest Fair (early varieties); harvesting starts around mid-August. Yet another reason to visit Les Embiez!
Harvesting continues through to the end of September, according to grape variety. These are harvested to produce rosé wine, made from 70% Cinsault and 30% Grenache grape varieties; white wine, from 60 % Ugni and 40% Sauvignon; red wine, from 75 % Merlot and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon (matured in oak casks).
