About ten people live permanently on the island which is accessible all year long from Le Brusc in Six-Fours-Les-Plages (or from the harbour of Sanary-sur-Mer during the summer season) by regular ferries using sulphur-free diesel.

The use of cars is forbidden on the island: However, there are parking lots for visitors who have brought their own car onto the island (places are limited, so you may book your transport)

The Frederic Mistral is available for private lease by groups for sea excursions. Embiez Island is the harbour where Le Garlaban (the legendary sailing boat formerly belonging to Paul Ricard) is moored, a three-masted ship which nowadays embarks children and young people for expeditions dedicated to observe the Mediterranean biodiversity.

The island is 1400m long from north to south and 1200m wide from east to west with a circumference thereabouts 6km (an area of 6.7 squares miles). Have a look all around this magical place by taking the “little train”. In a single day, discover the beauty and charm of a natural place; leisure and sports activities, typical French wine (red, white or rose), the Institut Oceanographique Paul Ricard and the Environment museum. Les Embiez also hosts a wide variety of events depending on the season: regattas, Fete des Pointus (Provençal fishing vessels), Harvest Festival, Petanque Tournaments, Marine Festival, Provençal markets, competitions, games and concerts… (See our diary of events & festivities)
