In 1958, when Paul Ricard decided to purchase and unite the three tiny islands which make up Ile des Embiez, the builder was approaching his fifties. The entrepreneur had become a man given to reflection, to sharing, to protecting the natural heritage. And therefore it is only natural for the exhibition of photos tracing the life and multi-faceted personality of Paul Ricard to be held on Ile des Embiez, in the open air. A man who was a nature lover, a social entrepreneur, a communications wizard, a builder, a visionary and, above all, a humanist. Visitors to the harbour at Saint-Pierre des Embiez will be able to enjoy some sixty themed panels with photos and accounts of his life.
This environmentally-friendly exhibition will offset its carbon footprint in line with its environmental commitment to Ile des Embiez. It has been designed for tourists and art lovers alike: Nicolas Henry –the artistic director - is responsible for the “6 milliards d’autres” exhibition by Yann Arthus-Bertrand at the Grand Palais in Paris... More than just a stroll through art, it is a veritable contemporary exhibition. From 9 July 2009. Permanent exhibition.
All events at the Paul Ricard Centenary are free and open to all.
